KN0N, KP2X, WA7ZWG, and KE7AFF/AFE made a successful test of MT-63 digital mode on the Sumas Repeater Sunday night after the ACS net. ALL of the ACS members should learn about this “no gadget required” mode. See the previous post, and look at this PowerPoint for an overview.

Time for some radio FUN that might prove very valuable during an emergency. Go to www.W1HKJ.com and download the FLDIGI software for your computer. It is available for Windows, Linux and Apple OS. Also on the downloads page you will see the MANUAL and GETTING STARTED GUIDES in PDF format. Get those too, and read through them. If you need a PDF reader, get FoxIt.
We are going to experiment with the MT-63 mode which has proven very useful on VHF and UHF repeaters. This mode of sending computer text can even be used without a computer interface. Just hold the radio mic up to the computer speaker to transmit, and position the computer mic near the radio speaker to receive!

The last sked for Harvey Road work was a rain-out. Since it is hard to plan too far ahead of the forecasters, BE ALERT for an announcement on short notice for the next attempt.

All ACS members must complete ICS-100, 200, 700, and 800. If you have not already done so, please email a copy of your ALL certificates, including other ICS and non-NIMS training, to Dale.

A lot of people are asking for a Amateur General Class course and we hear you. Please help us design a course that will suit the desires of the students. Take the survey, and once we have the class scheduled, a notice will appear here soliciting registrations. Please fill out the survey even if you don’t have a strong preference. If we don’t see the interest we won’t do the class. Thanks!
