Time for some radio FUN that might prove very valuable during an emergency. Go to www.W1HKJ.com and download the FLDIGI software for your computer. It is available for Windows, Linux and Apple OS. Also on the downloads page you will see the MANUAL and GETTING STARTED GUIDES in PDF format. Get those too, and read through them. If you need a PDF reader, get FoxIt.
We are going to experiment with the MT-63 mode which has proven very useful on VHF and UHF repeaters. This mode of sending computer text can even be used without a computer interface. Just hold the radio mic up to the computer speaker to transmit, and position the computer mic near the radio speaker to receive!
We will make some trial runs after the Sunday evening Blaine ACS NET at around 1945 local time. Everyone with a computer should at least try to receive the test messages.
